The Area for Pollination, Dispersal and Plant Evolution

This is area shows how plants are pollinated, dispersed and propagated.

Pollination is all about how pollen is transported from the stamen to the stigma of the pistil, something which may happen through self-pollination (pollen ends up on the stigma of the same flower) or cross-pollination (between different plants by means of, for example, the wind or insects).

In this area the different ways in which plants disperse are shown as well, such as asexual dispersal by runners, or the way seeds may be spread by wind or animal. There are also displays of some evolutionary phenomena, such as hybridisation, mutations and intraspecific variation - factors that may contribute to the formation of species. These phenomena have also been utilized in plant breeding.
