The Bergius Foundation at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

"The aim of the Bergius Foundation is to sustain the Bergius professorial chair and the research lead by Professor Bergianus at the botanical institution of the Foundation."

The Institution building

The Bergius Foundation, founded 1791, is a research institution at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for "natural history, particularly botany". The Foundation is also responsible for Edvard Anderson's conservatory, inaugurated 1995. Today the focus of the research is on biodiversity in general and on the coffee family (Rubiaceae) in particular. Since 2004 all research at the Bergius Foundation is carried out in collaboration with Stockholm University. Professor Bergianus is Director of the Bergius Botanic Garden and the Bergius Foundation and Head of Systematic Botany at Stockholm University.
